Annual agoseris is a California native annual herb found in the California Floristic Province, including many open habitats at elevations generally below 2,000 meters. Flowering from May to June, this plant produces yellow flowers with narrow ligules 2 to 6 millimeters long that nearly match the height of the flower head. Growing with delicate stems 10 to 30 centimeters tall, it has a slender, upright growth habit. Its leaves feature distinctive lobed edges with 2 to 3 pairs of lobes, ranging from glabrous to densely hairy. The plant produces highly variable fruits with prominent ribs that maintain their structure throughout the fruit's development.
