Paiute false bindweed is a native shrub found in southern California floristic province and desert regions in dry, rocky desert scrub at elevations of 600 to 1,300 meters. Flowering from May to July, this plant produces white to cream or pale pink and lavender flowers 28 to 36 millimeters long. Growing with stiffly erect or intertwining stems 30 to 100 centimeters tall, it forms a roughly hemispheric subshrub from a woody base. Its leaves are less than 6 centimeters long, linear to narrowly triangular, with rounded sinuses and minimal lobing. The plant's peduncles typically bear single flowers with linear bracts 3 to 17 millimeters long, adding to its distinctive desert scrub appearance.
