Chylismia brevipes subsp. arizonica is a California native annual found in southeastern Sonoran Desert regions of Imperial County on rocky slopes and flats at elevations of 70 to 300 meters. Flowering from March to April, this plant produces delicate flowers with petals 3 to 8 millimeters long, generally marked with distinctive red dots that fade over time. Growing with spreading hairs and slender stems, it develops elongated fruits 18 to 60 millimeters in length. Its leaves and stems have a sparse, wispy character with spreading hair coverage. The fruit develops on short pedicels 2.5 to 5 millimeters long, giving the plant a delicate, airy appearance.
