Cycladenia humilis var. humilis
Cycladenia
Family: Apocynaceae · Type: perennial · Native
Cycladenia is a California native perennial found in the Klamath Ranges, northern Coast Ranges, northern Sierra Nevada, and Santa Lucia Mountains in loose gravel or talus slopes at elevations of 1,200 to 2,800 meters. Flowering from April to August, this plant produces pale pink to white flowers with delicate corolla lobes 7 to 9 millimeters long. Growing with a generally glabrous and glaucous appearance, it forms compact stems with a distinctive bluish-green coloration. Its leaves are simple and narrow, blending with the plant's smooth, pale surface. The plant's ability to thrive in rocky, gravelly terrain makes it a remarkable adaptation to challenging mountain environments.
