Sticky cinquefoil is a California native perennial found in montane and subalpine habitats at varying elevations. Flowering from May to August, this plant produces pale yellow to white flowers with spreading petals that open widely. Growing with tufted stems up to 30 to 50 centimeters tall, it features abundant glandular hairs particularly at the stem base. Its compound leaves have sheathing bases that range from glabrous to glandular, with leaflets arranged in a distinctive pattern. The small fruits are approximately 1 to 1.5 millimeters long and mature to a reddish-brown color.
