Bloomer's goldenbush is a California native shrub found in the Klamath Ranges, Cascades, Sierra Nevada, and North Coast Ranges in open, gravelly conifer forest at elevations of 900 to 4,000 meters. Flowering from July to October, this plant produces bright yellow flowers in dense clusters with ray flowers 8 to 12 millimeters long. Growing 20 to 60 centimeters tall with stems that are glabrous to barely woolly and often glandular, it forms a compact, upright shape. Its leaves are distinctive, ranging 20 to 70 millimeters long, thread-like to almost oblanceolate, with acute tips and dotted with blister-like glands. The fruit is 5.5 to 8 millimeters long, brown, and slightly angled, with a tan to reddish pappus.
