Parry's goldenbush is a California native shrub found in various bioregions in rocky or dry habitats at elevations ranging from low to moderate terrain. Flowering from August to October, this plant produces yellow flowers in dense clusters with disc flower heads approximately 10 to 18 millimeters wide. Growing with prostrate to erect stems 10 to 100 centimeters tall, it features white to green stems closely covered with tightly matted hairs. Its leaves are thread-like to slightly oblanceolate, 10 to 80 millimeters long and 0.5 to 14 millimeters wide, with flat or slightly rolled margins. The fruit is 4 to 7 millimeters long and covered in fine hairs.
