Family: Asteraceae · Type: perennial · Native

Bloomer's fleabane is a California native perennial found in alpine and subalpine regions at elevations of 4 to 15 centimeters. Flowering from late summer to early autumn, this plant produces no ray flowers but has small disc flowers. Growing as a dense, tufted herb with an extremely short stem from a tapered root system, it forms compact clusters with mostly basal leaves. Its leaves are narrow and linear, ranging from 2 to 7 centimeters long, typically glabrous or sparsely hairy. The plant develops solitary flower heads with involucres 5 to 10 millimeters wide, characterized by strigose phyllaries with minute glandular surfaces.
