Pennell's panther is a California native annual found in rocky seeps, streams, and copper mine tailings at elevations of 100 to 700 meters. Flowering from April to May, this plant produces yellow flowers with delicate petals emerging from slender stems. Growing 5 to 30 centimeters tall with glandular-hairy stems, it has an elegant, sparse branching structure. Its leaves are elliptic to ovate, typically 7 to 22 millimeters long, with petioles 8 to 20 millimeters in length. Small clusters of 2 to 12 flowers are evenly distributed along the stem, creating a delicate botanical display.
