Mountain bedstraw is a California native perennial found in the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains on rocky talus above timberline at elevations of 2,650 to 3,880 meters. Flowering from June to August, this plant produces nearly white flowers in small rotate to shallow bell-shaped clusters. Growing with compact stems 2 to 15 centimeters tall, it forms a short, relatively open structure. Its leaves are small, 5 to 10 millimeters long, with ovate to round shapes and acute to pointed tips. The delicate fruit is 4 to 6 millimeters long and includes fine hairs.
