Corn chrysanthemum is a naturalized annual found in northern Coastal California and southern Coastal California in coastal areas, fields, and sea bluffs at elevations below 200 meters. Flowering from April to October, this plant produces bright yellow ray flowers in large flower heads 2.5 to 6 centimeters in diameter. Growing with stems up to 80 centimeters tall, it spreads readily in disturbed coastal landscapes. Its leaves are oblong to obovate, measuring up to 6 centimeters long, with a soft green appearance. The fruit is slightly compressed with lateral wings, approximately 2 millimeters long.
