Horkelia daucifolia
Carrot leafed horkelia
Family: Rosaceae · Type: perennial · Native
Carrot leafed horkelia is a California native perennial found in rocky, open areas at elevations of 15 to 300 meters. Flowering from April to July, this plant produces cream to pale yellow flowers in dense clusters 5 to 25 blooms wide. Growing with slender stems 15 to 30 centimeters tall and a grayish, rosetted appearance, it develops a simple to branched woody caudex. Its distinctive leaves have 5 to 10 pinnately divided leaflets on each side, with lobes that are finely cut almost to the base, creating a delicate, lacy texture. The plant's cream petals and linear leaflets give it a soft, intricate appearance characteristic of its rocky, open habitat.
