Horkelia tridentata var. tridentata

Three toothed horkelia

Family: Rosaceae · Type: perennial · Native

Three toothed horkelia is a California native perennial found in eastern Klamath Ranges, Cascade Range, Sierra Nevada, and North Coast Ranges in granitic or volcanic soils at elevations of 300 to 2,500 meters. Flowering from April to August, this plant produces white flowers 4 to 7 millimeters wide with narrow-oblanceolate petals. Growing with decumbent to nearly erect stems in loose to dense clusters, it forms low-spreading mats across rocky mountain landscapes. Its leaves feature multiple toothed leaflets that create a delicate, finely textured appearance across the plant's form. The flowers emerge from small hypanthiums generally 2 to 3.5 millimeters wide, creating intricate botanical displays in high-elevation mountain habitats.
