Alkali goldenbush is a California native shrub found in the San Joaquin Valley, southern Coast Ranges, San Bernarddo Mountains, and Mojave Desert in alkaline soils at elevations below 1,100 meters. Flowering from August to November, this plant produces yellow flowers in compact clusters with rounded phyllary tips. Growing to 80 centimeters tall with upright branching stems, it forms a dense and compact shrubby structure. Its leaves are relatively uniform, measuring up to 5 centimeters long, entire and unmodified throughout the plant's height. The shrub typically contains about 18 to 24 individual flowers in its characteristic inflorescence.
