Field ivesia is a rare (CNPS 1B.2) California native perennial found in southern Sierra Nevada Mountains in meadow edges at elevations of 2,200 to 3,100 meters. Flowering from July to September, this plant produces white flowers in small clusters 10 to 20 millimeters wide with approximately 15 flowers. Growing with ascending green stems 10 to 30 centimeters tall, it forms a compact rosette with a simple caudex. Its compound leaves are 5 to 15 centimeters long, featuring 15 to 20 leaflets per side with 3 to 5 oblanceolate lobes 2 to 10 millimeters long. The small fruits are smooth and light brown, measuring 1 to 1.5 millimeters in length.
