Ramm's madia is a California native annual found in northern Sierra Nevada Mountains on grassy slopes and forest openings, often in clayey soils at elevations of 400 to 1,100 meters. Flowering from April to July, this plant produces small yellow flowers in compact clusters. Growing with slender stems 15 to 45 centimeters tall, it forms delicate, open branching patterns. Its narrow leaves are thread-like, measuring 15 to 100 millimeters long and just 1 to 3 millimeters wide, giving the plant a fine, wispy appearance.
