Alaskan sickleleaved rush is a California native perennial found in the North Coast bioregion in peatland and moist sandy coastal areas at elevations generally below 100 meters. The plant produces flowers with petals 3.3 to 4.5 millimeters long, which are acute to blunt in shape. Growing with delicate, grass-like stems, it forms clumps in wet coastal environments. Its leaves are typical of rush species, forming slender, cylindrical clusters. The fruit is generally spheric to broadly ellipsoid, characteristic of its genus.
