Lathyrus vestitus var. ochropetalus

Bolander's pacific pea

Family: Fabaceae · Type: perennial · Native

Bolander's pacific pea is a California native perennial found in northern coastal regions including the North Coast, Klamath Ranges, and northern Coast Ranges in conifer or mixed forest at elevations generally below 150 meters. Flowering from February to July, this plant produces lavender or white flowers about 14 to 16 millimeters long. Growing with slender climbing stems that are smooth and glabrous, it forms delicate vine-like structures through forest understories. Its leaves are composed of paired leaflets typical of pea plants, creating a graceful and intricate growth pattern. The plant's pale lavender to white blossoms provide a subtle splash of color in the cool, shaded forest environments of coastal California.
