Lemmon's linanthus

Family: Polemoniaceae · Type: annual · Native

Lemmon's linanthus is a California native annual found in southwestern and western desert regions in dry openings, chaparral, woodland, and desert habitats at elevations below 1,900 meters. Flowering from April to June, this delicate plant produces light yellow flowers with yellow or white lobes and a maroon throat, arranged in small heads. Growing with hairy, glandular stems 5 to 15 centimeters tall, it forms compact clusters in open landscapes. Its leaves feature narrow linear lobes 2 to 5 millimeters long, creating a fine, feathery appearance. The flower's distinctive funnel-shaped corolla has a hairy internal ring, giving the plant a unique texture and visual character.
