Lilaeopsis is a California native perennial found in northern coastal, Shasta Valley, and central coastal bioregions in salty or brackish soil at elevations below 765 meters. Flowering from June to August, this plant produces small white flowers on delicate peduncles. Growing in dense tufts with linear leaves 2.5 to 30 centimeters long, it forms compact clusters in coastal wetland environments. Its leaves are slender and grass-like, emerging in tight bundles with a delicate, tapered structure. The fruit is small and elliptic, with 6 to 9 oil tubes along its marginal ribs.
