Santa barbara honeysuckle is a rare (CNPS 1B.2) California native shrub found in southern Channel Islands, specifically Santa Catalina Island, and western Transverse Ranges in chaparral habitats at elevations below 1,000 meters. Flowering from April to May, this plant produces delicate cream to yellow flowers in small clusters. Growing with arching branches 1 to 2 meters tall, it forms a loosely structured, somewhat tangled shrub. Its leaves are distinctive, narrowly elliptic and approximately three to four times longer than wide, with smooth margins and a muted green coloration. The shrub provides important habitat and nectar for local pollinators in its coastal chaparral environment.
