Tatarian honeysuckle is a naturalized shrub found in western California Ranges in disturbed places at elevations of 700 to 1,100 meters. Flowering from June to July, this plant produces white or pink flowers fading to yellow, with blossoms approximately 15 millimeters long in paired arrangements. Growing up to 3 meters tall with an erect habit, the shrub has glabrous or soft-hairy branches. Its leaves are ovate, 3 to 6 centimeters long, with rounded or slightly heart-shaped bases and obtuse tips, with upper leaf pairs not fused around the stem. The fruit develops as distinctive red, orange, or yellow berries approximately 1 centimeter in size.
