San bernardino grass-of-parnassus is a rare (CNPS 1B.3) California native perennial found in the San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mountains in wet places at elevations of 700 to 2,500 meters. Flowering from July to October, this plant produces white flowers with delicate petals 3 to 5 millimeters wide and distinctive fringed staminodes. Growing with slender stems up to 30 centimeters tall, it forms compact clumps in moist mountain habitats. Its leaves have broad blades 0.7 to 2.5 centimeters wide, creating a lush green base for the elegant white flowers. The plant's intricate staminode fringe, with filaments 3 to 6 millimeters long, adds a unique textural element to its delicate floral structure.
