Eaton's penstemon is a California native perennial found in the desert mountains in dry sagebrush scrub and pinyon/juniper woodland at elevations of 1,400 to 1,800 meters. Flowering from March to July, this plant produces vibrant red flowers in long, slender clusters along the plant's stems. Growing with upright stems to approximately 60 centimeters tall, it forms a robust clump with multiple flowering stalks. Its leaves are lance-shaped, arranged oppositely along the stem, with smooth edges and a deep green color. The plant is notably glabrous, giving it a clean, smooth appearance throughout its structure.
