Parish's yampah
Family: Apiaceae · Type: perennial · Native
Parish's yampah is a California native perennial found in montane and alpine regions at elevations of 1,500 to 2,500 meters. Flowering from June to August, this plant produces small white flowers in delicate umbels with 13 to 27 flowers per cluster. Growing 15 to 90 centimeters tall with green stems and distinctive tuberous roots, it develops a robust underground storage structure. Its basal leaves are complex, with finely divided lanceolate leaflets arranged in one to three pairs, creating an intricate green foliage pattern. The plant produces small fruits approximately 2.5 to 5 millimeters wide with thread-like ribs and distinctive oil tubes.
