Modoc yellow cress is a California native annual found in the Peninsular Ranges in marshes, wet meadows, and streambanks at elevations below 1,600 meters. Flowering from June to October, this plant produces small yellow flowers less than one millimeter wide in elongated clusters. Growing with prostrate to decumbent stems 20 to 35 centimeters tall that branch extensively at the base, it displays pinnately lobed leaves with linear to oblong lateral segments. Its leaves are oblong to oblanceolate, with basal leaves early-deciduous and mid-stem leaves ranging from 2 to 9 centimeters long. The fruit is a slender, curved silique 3 to 7 millimeters long, typically slightly constricted in the middle.
