Indian toothcup is a naturalized perennial found in the Sacramento Valley in marshes and ponds at elevations below 100 meters. Flowering from June to September, this plant produces delicate pink flowers in small axillary clusters. Growing with slender stems 10 to 40 centimeters tall, it spreads across wet habitats with multiple branching shoots. Its small leaves are arranged closely along the stems, with tiny lance-linear bractlets accompanying each flower. The fruit develops as a small oblong capsule nestled within the flower's hypanthium.
