Berg's hedgenettle
Family: Lamiaceae · Type: perennial · Native
Berg's hedgenettle is a California native perennial found in the northern coastal region of Del Norte County in dry coastal slopes, occasionally near serpentine areas, at elevations below 900 meters. Flowering from June to September, this plant produces pink flowers in clusters of 6, with a distinctive corolla tube 7 to 10 millimeters long. Growing with erect, branched stems 30 to 60 centimeters tall, the plant is densely covered in silvery, spreading woolly hairs that give it a distinctive appearance. Its narrow lance-shaped leaves are 2 to 5 centimeters long, with rounded bases and acute tips, arranged along stems with petioles less than 1 centimeter long. The plant's densely woolly stems and silvery hairiness make it a distinctive member of the hedgenettle family.
