Raiche's jewelflower is a California native annual found in serpentine grasslands and roadcuts of the central California Coast Ranges at elevations of 350 to 1,250 meters. Growing 20 to 100 centimeters tall with sparsely stiff-hairy stems, the plant has mid-stem leaves less than five times longer than their width. Its flowers feature distinctive upper petals 11.5 to 13.5 millimeters long and lower petals 8.5 to 12 millimeters long, creating an intricate floral display. The fruits are uniquely positioned, curving downward or reflexed from the plant's straight flowering axis.
