Navarretia torreyella is a California native plant found in the High Cascade Ranges and northern and Sierra Nevada High foothill bioregions on basalt flats, pyroclastic rubble, and clay soils at elevations from 1,000 to 2,100 meters. Flowering from May to September, it grows as a nearly scentless, erect plant 3 to 10 or more centimeters tall with thin, reddish-brown branching stems and pinnately lobed cauline leaves ending in thread-like segments.
