Chenopodium twisselmannii is a California native restricted to the southern Sierra Nevada High bioregion, growing in disturbed sites within meadows, forests, and rocky exposures between 2,000 and 2,800 meters elevation. Flowering from July to September, it is an erect plant up to 1.1 meters tall, openly branched from the base, with powdery, narrow lance-shaped leaves and a conical fruit that is light reddish-cream, turning brown with age.
